Is there anything sweeter than high school sweethearts?!?! How about high school sweethearts who met in student government! Chris and Katie met in high school when Katie was class president and Chris was class treasurer! They’ve been dating since the age of 15 and they were long distance for five years in there as well! They got engaged in Newport last September and they’re excited to be planning a summer 2018 wedding.
Last week I had the pleasure of spending an evening exploring Newport, Rhode Island with Katie and Chris while getting to know them some more. Newport is a special place for this couple so that’s where they choose to do their engagement photos! Katie’s family has a house in Newport so she has childhood memories there as well as many memories there with Chris! As they popped champagne in the backyard she joked that her relatives in the surrounding houses were probably peeking out the windows watching! After some bubbly and snuggles at the house we headed over to the Eisenhower House where they spend a lot of time and now it’s even more special to them as it’s where they got engaged! The stormy skies and potential for rain helped us have the place to ourselves and they cozied up on the porch laughing and joking and doing just as I instructed them to ignore the camera and focus only on each other!
Continuing on to visit another one of their favorite spots, we stopped at Brenton Point State Park and walked out onto the rocks by the ocean. Just when it seemed the evening couldn’t have been anymore perfect, the clouds parted just enough and the sun shone through for a stunning sunset! Katie and Chris are such a sweet couple and I cannot wait for their Newport wedding at the Bohlin next June!!
