You know sometimes you meet a couple and you immediately think to yourself, “Yup, you guys are perfect for each other…” that’s exactly how I felt the first time I met Katherine and Timothy. We met up in November 2017 for their engagement session which started at their apartment and they took me to all of their favorite places in their Somerville neighborhood. I immediately got the vibe that they truly compliment one another.
I was so excited to kick off my 2018 wedding season with their April 21st wedding, but I have to admit, the way the spring was acting I was feeling pretty nervous about the weather! While most of their wedding plans were indoors, they had picked out a park to do their first look and formal photos and I was really hoping it’d happen for them. And luckily, spring showed up JUST in time for these two! After so much cold, dreary weather, April 21st came around and suddenly spring had sprung! It was a gorgeous mid-50s day and the sun was shining brightly! Katherine and Tim were going to have the perfect day!
Katherine got ready at her Maid of Honor’s apartment which was decked out in balloons and streamers–the party had already begun! The guys got ready a few blocks away at Tim and Katherine’s place where they shared lots of laughs and some good drinks. The whole day was taking place in Somerville, which is so representative of this couple who met at Tufts and decided to continuing living right near by. They picked Prospect Hill Park for their first look, and as I rode over with Katherine I asked her how she was feeling. She was excited but I loved that she wasn’t nervous or stressed; she said she wanted to be a “chillzilla” instead of a “bridezilla” and she definitely embodied that! The whole day flowed beautifully and was laid back and FUN; just like Katherine and Tim. Couples like this, who are just so in love and want the day to be a celebration of the love they have for each other and their family and friends, are truly incredible to document.
After the first look and formal photos the couple and their wedding party and families walked just down the hill to Warehouse XI where both the ceremony and reception would take place. This wedding had an incredible team of vendors, planned and pulled together by the wonderful Cristen & Co.! Warehouse XI is a beautiful “blank slate” venue with its white brick walls and black floor. It’s got a chic industrial vibe and this team of vendors created a beautiful ceremony space that brought the green of spring indoors and had a soft romantic feel as well.
It was a sentimental ceremony as Tim and Katherine were married by a friend of theirs. These two were beaming as they said they stated their vows and said their “I dos.” Family and friends were wiping happy tears as they sealed the deal with a kiss! And from there the celebration began! Katherine and Tim wanted their guests to have a blast and everyone certainly did! Cocktail hour was held in a side room of Warehouse XI and some guests stepped outside to enjoy the sunshine of the day. Cristen & Co. then worked some serious magic with their vendors to completely transform the ceremony space into the reception space. In under an hour it looked like a different place! Every detail had been careful thought through and planned and the tables were set beautifully!
Katherine and Tim entered the reception busting some moves to music played by their band, Speechless. Their loved ones went wild! Then they blew everyone away with a gorgeous choreographed waltz across the room as their first dance. They toasted to their guests and then the family-style meal, prepared by BH Events, was served. The rest of the evening was full of laughter, dancing, OH and gourmet s’mores made by The Marshmallow Cart! Guests had a wonderful time celebrating Timothy and Katherine and the couple didn’t stop smiling all night! Congratulations and best wishes for many more years of making each other smile!
